Why become a member?

Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals is proud to offer our school leaders the opportunity to invest in their future with membership to our union.  Membership provides our Administrators and Principals with an extra layer of benefits and opportunities for extended learning, advocacy, and support throughout your service to our school system. Members receive weekly communication updates from our President and Executive team, gain member only invitations to participate in meetings, conferences, and extended learning panels/teams. In times of celebration or uncertainty our leaders are here to support you and give you a voice that is heard.

 Membership an investment that starts with you -

Membership is an annual fee that is broken down over 20 pay periods through payroll deductions, or can be paid by a one-time check payment of ($1,200.20)

Membership fees through payroll deduction for fiscal year 2025 will start on September 13, 2024, and end on June 13, 2025; deductions of ($60.01) over 20 pay periods will be deducted automatically through ERSC. Included in your deduction is ($100.20) toward your membership to The American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA), a national union associated with AFL-CIO. 

  •   Additionally, MCAAP/MCBOA members contribute one day (8 hours) of personal leave each year to fund the MCAAP Administrative Leave Bank. This supports the full-time president, Union Business Leave (UBL), adds to professional development travel funds, and union business meetings including negotiations. (This leave is donated on or about November 1st or when you become a member) .

Additional Organizations for your consideration - 

As a courtesy, MCAAP provides information about other organizations to strengthen the investment in yourself, if you chose to join additional organizations, MCAAP can facilitate the fee through additional payroll deductions through your membership. 

Maryland/National Association of Elementary School Principals is the joint state and national professional group of elementary and middle school administrators.

  • MAESP/NAESP Annual Fee: Principals $475; Assistant Principals $425 

Maryland/National Association of Secondary School Principals is the joint state and national professional group of middle and high school administrators.

  • MASSP/NASSP Annual Fee: $390 (Note: $20 increase from previous year.)

NOTE: Members that retire or leave MCPS before June 13, 2025, will owe the full amount of remaining membership fees directly to the Maryland/National organization.
