WHEREAS the American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA) believes that an important role of schools leaders is to provide leadership in preserving the safety and welfare of students entrusted to their care during the school day, and
WHEREAS it is critical for the safety of students and employees that plans for routine safety practices and specific crisis contingency plans be developed and disseminated,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA) support its locals and affiliates in recommending the following:
- The development of a comprehensive, step-by-step plan to address crises and disasters during the school day
- The public dissemination of crisis and disaster plans Comprehensive planning for training school personnel and students and Conducting scheduled and non-scheduled crisis and disaster drills.
